friday the 13thHey guys, If you are looking for something fun to do on Friday the 13th, you should come see me play downtown! Most of you know, I usually perform as a solo artist, but if all goes as planned on Friday, I will be playing with a drummer and maybe more. A little experiment! It'll be at \"The Mohawk\" on 10th and Red River. The show starts at 10, but there's gonna be three acts before me. I will probably go on around 12:30am. I think it's five bucks to get in. Here is a flyer: http://geocities.com/reallivetigers/mohawk.jpg Good luck on finals, if you have any left! World Tai Chi and Qigong Day this SaturdayWorld Tai Chi & Qigong Day,
This SATURDAY, April 28th
ar rive 9:30am, main event 10am, demonstrations 10:30 Auditorium Shores (Town Lake just off 1st Street on the south side of the lake, across from Palmer Auditorium near the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue. Some parking along Riverside, more in the neighborhood, paid parking in the auditorium.) On Saturday, April 28, 2007, Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department, Steps to a Healthier Austin and the Mayor's Fitness Council will join Tai Chi practitioners in celebrating World Tai Chi & Qigong Day. This is a worldwide event to promote global health and healing. At exactly 10 a.m. local time, practitioners and the public worldwide will do Tai Chi with the intention of sending a wave of healing energy across the globe. All Tai Chi schools, families, friends, and the general public are invited to come to Auditorium Shores for this free event. There will be free classes and orientation beginning at 9:30 a.m. with demonstrations starting at 10:30 a.m. This event is currently celebrated in more than 60 countries across six continents. Tai Chi is a martial art that provides health benefits for all ages, including stress reduction, improved coordination and flexibility, as well as bringing people closer to nature and the environment. Tai Chi involves a slow series of movements which focus on breathing, balance and co-ordination. The forms cultivate qualities like a relaxed and focused mind as well as a healthy resilient body. And it's a great way to begin the day. Tai Chi and Qigong help strike a balance between our dynamic (male/yang) side and our receptive (female/yin) side. Men and women have both qualities, and these techniques help us balance them. Research has shown that Tai Chi is an effective technique in preventing and treating geriatric diseases and delaying the aging process. The City Parks and Recreation Department is incorporating Tai Chi into its senior activity program at Oak Hill with great success. Brown Bag talk: Attracting Ideal Clients in a Web 2.0 WorldWednesday May 9th
12:45-1:45pm
Classroom B
Attracting Idea l Clients in a Web 2.0 World Blogs, podcasts, mash-ups, RSS, long tails, social networks and other Web 2.0 movements are shaping the next generation of Internet technology. This is fantastic news for small services businesses, like acupuncturists, who want to cost effectively keep and attract ideal clients. Learn about emerging Web technologies and how to use the Internet to help build the business that you want. Jason Howell, a massage therapist and Web geek with a Masters of Business Administration, has an affinity for independent service providers, the smallest of small businesses. After nearly a decade in Fortune 100 Corporate sales and marketing, Jason immersed himself in the grassroots world of independent service providers by becoming a Reiki practitioner, massage therapist, life coach, and business consultant. The shocking failure rates among small service businesses spurred Jason to found a company in 2003 that researches and develops business and IT solutions for independent service providers. Jason's company launched Self Book It, an online marketplace for services and appointments, in January 2007.

AAAOM Conference Student letterAAAOM New Orleans Conference &
Reunification Celebration!
M ay 10-13, 2007 Rebuilding the Future Triumph is in the air, and gaiety will be on hand, when the AAAOM celebrates the recent nationwide professional organization Reunification at their upcoming New Orleans Conference from May 10 - 13, 2007! Reuniting and recreating a single united voice for the professions of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) is a personal and collective success for us all. It is an honor, a joy, and a true victory for students and professionals of AOM to stand side by side together as we work toward rebuilding our cooperative futures. \"Rising from the foundation of tradition, New Orleans is the perfect place to celebrate unification!\" The AAAOM is proud to call all students and professionals of AOM together at the threshold of our new beginnings near the vibrant undamaged French Quarter of New Orleans, where all life and energy is focused on community growth and renewal. No classes or events have been scheduled for the evening time (with the exception of the AAAOM-SO Student Caucus on Friday), so that people can enjoy, explore, and experience the local vitality together, and reconnect with colleagues and friends. In the spirit of rebirth, restoration, and solidarity, the AAAOM is presenting three major New Orleans Conference tracks, including NADA training, OB/GYN services, and Working Class Acupuncture (WCA). Many well-known guest speakers will be participating. NADA training will incorporate caring for the caregivers, offering local off-site treatment to New Orleans firefighters, EMS, and counselors that cared for the citizens of New Orleans through Hurricane Katrina. OB/GYN services will cover women's health and maternity care, including successfully managing labor and delivery. WCA will bring a viable cost-efficient model for AOM treatment to Middle America, further empowering both patients and professionals. Visit www.aaaomonline.org for the AAAOM New Orleans Conference brochure and further details. To encourage nationwide Student participation, the AAAOM has extended early bird specials and drastically reduced student rates. The AAAOM-SO Student Caucus Meeting and Dinner on Friday, 5/11/07, from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM is FREE! General Conference pricing for students has been discounted to just $50.00 (a $10.00 savings!). NADA Didactic Training cost is now just $325.00 for all four days, Thursday through Sunday (an amazing $200.00 discount!). Student prices for the OB/GYN track (Friday and Saturday) and the WCA track (Saturday through Sunday) have been radically cut as well! Both the OB/GYN and WCA classes are now available for students only at just $175.00 (a $150.00 savings!). These are extraordinary seminars with nationally renowned guest speakers! In addition, the luncheon banquet on Saturday is included at no additional cost for everyone attending the NADA, OB/GYN, and WCA conferences! You don't want to miss the opportunity for this exceptional training at these rock bottom prices! Continental breakfasts are FREE for all Hampton Inn New Orleans Convention Center guests! The hotel has agreed to accommodate 5 students per room at a cost of just $27.80 per student per night (taxes not included). Four students sharing a room would cost $32.25 per student per night. Three per room would be $43.00 per student per night. Two per room would be $64.50 per night per student per night. The single occupancy rate is $129.00. If 5 students share a room, the hotel cost for the entire New Orleans Conference (3 nights) would be just $83.40 per student (includes $10.00 for a roll-away bed)! If four share a room the entire Conference (3 nights) would be only $96.75 per student! That's two great opportunities for hotel costs for the entire New Orleans Conference totaling less than $100.00 (taxes not included)! To help promote the spirit the AAAOM Reunification Celebration all students are encouraged to room-share, and to consider ride-sharing if you'll be coming via car. If you'd like to make a travel connection with another student, who'll be attending the New Orleans Conference from your area, please email or call your AAAOM-SO Regional Director for assistance (see contact list attached). Remember super-saver airfares also are often available on line. Be a part of embracing our profession and creating the foundations of tomorrow. Commit to independent and interdependent personal and professional growth. Join us at the AAAOM New Orleans Conference, as we proclaim and celebrate the AAAOM Reunification and the incredible transformational power of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and as we unite together to rebuild our collective futures! For the love of the medicine, for the love of the art, and for the love of life and health! Wishing you all the best, Rhonda Wilbur and Koala Moore, AAAOM-SO Co-Presidents
