Inspired Creations-Studio Furniture Inspired by the Wentworth-Ga
rdner House

The Wentworth-Gardner House is the site of an exciting new e
xhibit this season. Ron Tuveson and David Leach, who each have studios at the Mill at Salmon Falls are coordinating a show by eleven of the studio furniture makers at the Mill. The artists visited the Wentworth-Gardner House on a dreary and cold day in February for a special tour of this architectural marvel. They all went away impressed by the artistry and craftsmanship of the house. Each has created a special piece for our exhibition. The pieces will be placed throughout the house and will also be for sale. All of our participants are well-known in the furniture making world and some rarely have pieces on exhibit locally. Participants will include Allan Breed, well known for his wonderful recreations of 18th century fine furniture\; Bruce Eaton, who makes furniture in the tradition of 18th and 19th century New England and Matthew Wajda, a 2000 graduate of North Bennett Street School Cabinet and Carpentry program who also makes traditional custom furniture. Brian Gulick is known for sculptural public installations that often involve glass. John May, as a turner and woodworker makes furniture as well as other objects. Venera Gattonini began her career at a girl scout camp teaching wood shop, studied at UNH, worked with several well known furniture makers and now makes custom contemporary furniture. Lynn Szymanski is a furniture maker and educator. Ron Tuveson builds custom picture frames, usually gilded, and restores and regilds antique frames. He also is called upon for furniture gilding. Jared Tuveson, a sculptor, works with Ron in the gilding studio. David Leach creates both traditional and contemporary furniture. Samuel Breed, son of Allen Breed, also does interpretations of high end 18th century furniture. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 28 from 5-7 PM. Make sure to mark your calendars for this event. The exhibit will run through October 15, with all pieces remaining until then. The artists are generously donating a portion of the proceeds of any sale to the Wentworth-Gardner and Tobias Lear Houses Association.
