"Synthesis"SynthesisGates Garden CourtJuly 15 - August 29, 2008 "Synthesis" brings together a selection of paintings from Robin Schaefer's last several bodies of work. Complementing Denver Botanic Gardens' 2008 signature exhibit, "Urban Nature," the exhibit offers an extraordinary view into an artist's perception of nature and the built environment. Robin Schaefer is a Denver native who uses traditional oil painting techniques to execute work that is complex and alluring, exposing luminous and vivid details. Her organic objects are isolated on the canvas, evoking a profound sense of imperfection and vulnerability. Schaefer was selected for the 2007 West Edition of New American Paintings and her work is in several prominent local collections, including First Western Trust Bank. She is represented by Plus Gallery and maintains a studio at Ironton in the River North Arts District.

Robert Koropp - RetrospectiveFew photographers cover as much ground in their lifetimes as Robert "Bob" Koropp (1924-2008). Chemist turned photographer, for over 50 years Koropp worked to master his passion and share that gift with others. From Chicago to Los Angeles to Denver, with two books and over 50 solo-exhibitions to his credit, Bob Koropp created imagery that not only was a standard in commercial photography, but broke generational boundaries in fine art photography. Like many artists his work represents his life. And taking the time to study this work gives you a glimpse into an incredible life.
