Rob DeGrand Memorial Softball TournamentCome join us for the 16th Annual Rob DeGrand Memorial Softba ll Tournament. Starting Thursday August 7th through Sunday August 10th there will be tons of softball to enjoy. But the fun doesn't stop there. Saturday August 9th we will start our day with the Gary Thiry Memorial Walk/Run. Registration starting at 7:00 at the cost of $5.00 per person with the walk/run to start at 8:00 come join us and walk in memory of someone that you love. Stick around for Milk Bottle tournament and the Blindman's Co-Ed and Girls Volleyball tournament. There will also be games for the kids and great food to enjoy. All weekend long we will have our raffle and silent auction going on, with great baskets and items that everyone would enjoy. The reason for all of this fun, well we lost Rob DeGrand in a car accident 17 years ago and he loved softball so much that his friends and family decided to keep his memory alive with a softball tournament which turned into so much more. We are now able to help others in vehicle accidents, people with medical problems and so much more. We also give out 3 scholarships every year to high school graduates. Green Bay Model Airplane Club RC Air Show & Corn RoastOn August 9th & 10th the Green Bay Model Airplane Club will be holding their Annual Corn Roast/Air Show from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There will be fun for the whole family. Take a turn on a flight simulator and see what model aviation is all about. After that you may be able to go and actually fly a radio controlled airplane with the help of a qualified instructor. The Northern Aces Show Team will be doing an air show at 1:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday during which they will fly some very unique aircraft - Snoopy and his Doghouse, Broom Hilda the flying witch, a flying lawnmower, warbirds and much more. There will be plenty of food and beverage. So don't forget the sunscreen and lawn chairs and come out for a fun afternoon. Parking is $5.00 a carload. The Green Bay Model Airplane Club field is located at the Nicolet Airport on Bins CT. (4 1/2 miles east of University Ave. (Hwy. 57) on Humboldt Rd. (Cty. Hwy. "N"). Watch for the signs. KNIGHTS ON THE FOX SUMMER CONCERT SERIESCrowd favorite Let Me Be Frank Productions will return this year for the final concert of St. Norbert's "Knights on the Fox" summer concert series on Tuesday, August 12. The concert, held in the heart of the St. Norbert College campus, is free and open to the public. Jim Schmitt, mayor of the City of Green Bay and St. Norbert College alumnus, will serve as the evening's master of ceremonies. Frank Hermans, owner and managing partner of Let Me Be Frank Productions, started his performing troupe in 1999. At the time, it was known as Frank's Dinner Theater. In 2006, the group moved to the Meyer Theatre in downtown Green Bay and changed its name to Let Me Be Frank Productions. For this concert, they will perform songs from their "Shake, Rattle and Roll" summer show. "Knights on the Fox" features live music in a casual atmosphere along the banks of the Fox River. Carry in your own picnic, or purchase sandwiches, hotdogs, popcorn, ice cream, cookies, bottled water or soda on site. Picnics begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the concerts from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Concerts will be canceled in the event of rain. Come by land or by water, as the docks at the Thompson Marina will be open. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and join us for another summer of great music and fun!
