Starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Robert De Niro, this 2000 movie tells the story of Carl Brashear, the first African-American diver in the U.S. Navy in a time where racism is strife. Feb. 16: Glory. Starring Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman and Matthew Broderick, this 1989 movie chronicles the all-black 54th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. Feb. 23: Buffalo Soldiers. Starring Danny Glover, this 1997 movie tells the true story of the black cavalry corps known as the Buffalo Soldiers. These troops patrolled America's west after the Civil War. MONTEREY JAZZ FESTIVAL 50TH ANNIVERSARY TOURThe Monterey Jazz Festival 50th Anniversary Tour maintains M onterey's tradition of bringing together veteran and younger artists with performances by Terence Blanchard (trumpet), the 82-year old legendary James Moody (saxophone), Benny Green (piano/music director), Nnenna Freelon (special guest vocalist), Derrick Hodge (bass) and Kendrick Scott (drums). There will be a video display on the history of the festival in the lobby.
