Senior WeekSAVE THE DATE! SENIOR WEEK IS ON! The Senior Class Counci l is thrilled to announce that Senior Week 2008 is officially a "go"! The program is scheduled for May 13 - 15, 2008, with Commencement on May 16th. We have been working very hard all year to coordinate a program that will be fun and unifying and provide us all with an opportunity to bring closure to our years at TCNJ. There are several activities that students have always loved, such as the trip to Great Adventure, going "down the shore" to a club, and the semi-formal Gala on the last night. But we also have some terrific new activities that we know are going to start some meaningful new traditions for the seniors. So, come back from winter break with the 3 R's: rested, refreshed and Ready to Register! With significant support from the administration of the College, we are committed to keeping the program affordable (just under $200!) because we want to make this a Senior Week for all of us to remember. Look for registration information, via our senior list serve and an ad in the Signal, upon your return. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to leave your legacy as the class who brought back senior week! Please take a minute to let us know, anonymously, if you are planning to attend, by submitting this web form -- https://jedi.tcnj.edu/webteam/cgi-bin/formgenie/formgenie.pl ?form=22398 . This information will help us in planning for the events. Have a wonderful break and "Celebrate the Great '08"!

IT shutdownThe College will be conducting its annual electrical shutdown on Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18 from 6 AM to 6 PM both days. All buildings on campus will be without electrical service during the shutdown. This shutdown is necessary to service our transformers, switch gear, and related equipment to help prevent service interruptions during the year. In anticipation of the shutdown, Information Technology will power down the network, Internet connection, servers, email and telephone equipment at 5:00 PM Friday, May 16 and restore service by 8:00 PM Sunday, May 18. Electrical devices, such as PCs, instruments, etc., should be shut down prior to this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Seniors ToastThe following meeting has been modified:Subject: Seniors Toa st Organizer: \"Jason Neely\" <neely@tcnj.edu> Location: Sci Complex Fountain Time: Thursday, May 15, 2008, 7:00:00 PM - 8:00:00 PM *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Dear Colleagues, Yesterday, you received an e-mail inviting you to join the campus community in a Presidential Toast on Thursday, May 15th, around the Science Complex Fountain. Please note that the time of the event has been changed from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 pm . The students have specifically requested the presence of their faculty and staff mentors on this special occasion. Therefore, your attendance is encouraged as a show of the valuable experience it has been for us to teach, advise, supervise, and coach these remarkable young people over the past four years. Lori Thompson Director of Planning and Administration Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs ========= Dear Colleagues, We have all watched members of the Class of 2008 move with excitement and a little trepidation toward the next stage of their lives. It has been a wonderful experience to teach, advise, supervise, and coach these remarkable students over the past four years, and we will soon have an opportunity to join them in their commencement ceremony. The senior class officers, with much support from the College, have been planning a new kind of Senior Week program, one that they hope will provide graduating students with an opportunity for unity, closure, and celebration. They have been dedicated to leaving a new legacy behind them for future classes to embrace. We write to share this program with you and to extend a special invitation for you to join them in their celebration. In particular, we invite you to join the campus community in a Presidential Toast on Thursday, May 15th, at 7:00 p.m. around the Science Complex Fountain. The students have specifically requested the presence of their faculty and staff mentors on this special occasion. The following is an overview of the Senior Week program: On Tuesday, May 13th, Senior Week students will move into Wolfe Hall, where many began their career here at TCNJ. Then it's on to \"Reverse Playfair\" on Quimby's Prairie, a twist on one of their favorite freshman-year Welcome Week activities. They'll travel to some of their favorite New Jersey haunts, including the Casino Pier by the shore and KatManDu. The Alumni Brunch on Wednesday, planned with Alumni Affairs and sponsored by the Alumni Association, will give them an opportunity to get a glimpse of life after graduation and show them how profound TCNJ's impact has been on those who came before them. The class council worked hardest on planning the last day of Senior Week, Thursday, May 15th. They have planned the entire day on campus, in all their favorite spaces. They will begin with an al fresco brunch and then play at a carnival by the lake, with rides and boating. Later that day they will gather in the Mildred and Ernest E. Mayo Concert Hall to hear the Senior Week speaker, Henry Winkler. They know him from reruns and not the original show, but they are very excited that he will be coming to campus. Thursday concludes with a very special event that we hope you will consider attending, as faculty and staff who are very important to these students. We will gather at the Science Complex Fountain at 7:00 p.m., where Dr. R. Barbara Gitenstein will offer the \"Presidential Toast to the Seniors.\" Then, led by their class officers, the students will proceed to Eickhoff Hall for the Senior Gala. Please join our students at the fountain to wish them good luck and a bright future. Your presence will show them that our community stands behind them and will give them something to remember for the rest of their lives. Beth Paul Interim Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Norfleet Vice President for Student Affairs
